Donald W. (Butch) Britton serves as chief executive officer of ING's U.S. Insurance division, which includes the Life Insurance, Group Insurance (Employee Benefits), and Group Reinsurance businesses. Prior to assuming this role in January of 2009, he led ING's U.S. Life Business Group.

Britton brings a diversified background in the life and annuity industries to his role. Prior to joining ING in 2004, he was president of the Life Division at American General Financial Group, where he helped create and manage an innovative distribution and product management model that helped to double sales during his three years with the company. His experience also includes more than 18 years with First Colony Life, culminating as president of that company, and commensurately senior positions with GE Financial Assurance.

Britton holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics from East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C. He is a member of the Fellow Society of Actuaries, the American Academy of Actuaries, and a recipient of the Douglas Mooers Award presented annually by the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA). He served as chairman of the LIMRA Brokerage Committee and served a term on their board of directors. He currently serves as a director on the LIMRA and LOMA Global Board.
