Miami financial planner Frank Acosta, CFP®, was recognized today for his innovative approach to financial planning as part of a series called “A Fresh Approach.™”.

ING U.S. Financial Services started the program to recognize the most innovative of the country’s more than 28,000 financial planners in conjunction with the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), MONEY magazine and CNN. Acosta is featured in MONEY magazine’s September issue, and a 30-second profile is airing nationally on CNN throughout the month.

Acosta, president of Acosta Insurance Group of Miami and a member of FPA®, was recognized for his unique approach to investing — in the insurance and investment producers he manages. He helps his producers market themselves and build their client lists, works with them to design products tailored to each of their clients and even stays late or works weekends to coach producers on their public speaking and presentation skills.

Acosta’s approach has contributed to Acosta Insurance Group’s growth into one of the largest insurance and investment agencies in South Florida during its 13 years. A Cuban-born immigrant who has lived in Miami since 1964, Acosta mentors and manages more than 100 producers who sell securities, life and health insurance to Greater Miami and its Hispanic communities.

“My commitment is to the producers and my satisfaction comes from their success,” Acosta said. “They know I’m going to do everything I can to help them be successful. The secret is knowing that what that entails is different for each person.” Acosta focuses on the philosophy of “Tell me — I’ll forget; show me — I’ll remember; involve me — I’ll understand.”

Advisor Jorge Valdes, CFP®, has benefited first-hand from Acosta’s commitment and willingness to get involved. “Frank always makes himself available to help with complex planning cases or to go to client meetings,” Valdes said. “He helps us develop confidence and a comfort level.”

Marc Lieberman, head of strategic distribution at ING Life Group, nominated Acosta to the Fresh Approach program because of examples like Valdes’. “Frank’s rapport with his producers is unparalleled,” Lieberman said. “He will help every producer that he has to be the best he or she can be. And it is working, and working well.”
