Alan S. (Al) Lurty is head of Affinity Markets and Business Development for ING U.S. Insurance Solutions. Lurty leads the overall market direction, product agenda, and new business initiatives for ING U.S.’s life insurance, including product development and implementation. He also leads the ING U.S. Employee Benefits’ Affinity Markets business, a group that offers life insurance and other voluntary benefits to associations and membership organizations.
Prior to this role, he was responsible for building the company’s Specialty Markets distribution channel, which focuses on online quote services and other specialty distribution, and for leading the development of ING U.S.’s term life insurance strategy.
Before joining the company in 2005, Lurty held senior leadership positions with Coventry Financial, where he oversaw product pricing and structured finance programs, and with CNA Insurance, where he was chief operating officer of its annuity business and its Canadian life operations. Lurty began his career at Midland Mutual Life in Columbus, Ohio, where he led product and market development.
Lurty received a Bachelor of music in piano performance summa cum laude from Kent State University and a Master of Business Administration in finance and strategic planning from The Ohio State University. He is on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern Pennsylvania and is involved in other community volunteer work.
