Alan S. (Al) Lurty is head of Business Development for ING U.S. Insurance. Lurty joined the company in July 2005 and leads the overall market direction and product agenda for the business segment. He also manages the end-to-end product development and implementation process, as well as development of new business initiatives. He was responsible for building the organization’s Specialty Markets distribution channel, which focuses on term quote services and other specialty distribution, and for leading the development of ING U.S.’s term life insurance strategy
Prior to joining ING, Lurty held senior leadership positions with Coventry First, where he oversaw product pricing and structured finance programs, and with CNA Insurance, where he was chief operating officer of its annuity business and its Canadian life operations. Lurty began his career at Midland Mutual Life in Columbus, Ohio where he led product and market development.
Lurty received a Bachelor of Music in piano performance summa cum laude from Kent State University and a Master of Business Administration in finance and strategic planning from The Ohio State University. He is on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters for southeastern Pennsylvania and is a registered securities principal.
