Richard Mason is president of Corporate Markets for ING U.S. Retirement, a strategic business unit responsible for the development, marketing and distribution of retirement products and services for all of ING’s 401(k) corporate market segments — small, mid-sized and institutional — as well as the defined benefit and stable value markets.

Mason began his career with Aetna in 1986, which was acquired by ING in 2000. Prior to his current role, he held numerous senior level P&L and distribution positions during his 26-year tenure with the organization. In 2008, Mason was instrumental in the acquisition and subsequent integration of CitiStreet Plan Services, LLC.

Mason currently serves on the Board of the American Benefits Council, the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) Executive Board, and is a member of the SPARK Institute Board. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Manlius Pebble Hill school. He has been quoted on a wide range of retirement issues in publications such as Wall Street Journal, Smart Money, Forbes, CNBC, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune and MSN Money, among other national media.

Mason graduated summa cum laude and has a B.S. in Business Administration/Finance from Providence College, RI. He was recognized by The 401kWire as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Defined Contribution” for 2010, 2011 and 2012.
