ING Foundation Grants
The ING Foundation is the charitable giving arm of ING U.S. The Foundation awards grants to non-profit organizations addressing a variety of community needs and resources.
In our grant-making, we maintain the following three primary giving priorities, areas of community need where we focus our support:
- Children’s education. We are committed to supporting and improving education for youth in grades K-12, especially children in underserved areas or facing economic disadvantages.
- Financial education. We believe that awareness and understanding of financial matters are the stepping stones to financial empowerment and a more secure future. Financial empowerment speaks to the day-to-day realities of many individuals in communities where we live and work – people who desperately need help gaining the knowledge and skills to build financial security and personal success. The ING Foundation is especially interested in programming that empowers individuals to take control of their financial futures through education, financial literacy, and financial planning, with special attention to the needs of young people and minorities.
- Physical education. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years1. In 2010, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese. Because of the near and long-term effects this has on a child’s ability to thrive, ING U.S. believes this is not acceptable. In conjunction with our overall commitment to youth and education, we have made helping children live healthy and fit lives a priority of the work of the ING Foundation.
Please note that the ING Foundation cannot consider funding for organizations that do not have tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. In addition, the Foundation does not grant awards to individuals; private foundations; religious or fraternal organizations and activities; political, legislative, and/or lobbying causes; capital and/or endowment campaigns or building funds; general or administrative operating costs; or organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, gender or national origin. Nor do we support fashion shows, pageants, golf tournaments, sports teams, athletic events, or other funding opportunities that do not align with our strategic areas of giving.
