James Nichols is head of Retirement Income and Advice Strategy for ING U.S. Retirement Solutions, one of the largest retirement platforms, product and service providers in the United States. In his role, Nichols is responsible for overseeing the quality and consistency of ING U.S.’s advice and guidance platform to meet the evolving needs of approximately 48,000 institutional clients and over five million individual customers. Nichols is also responsible for developing and executing ING U.S.’s retirement income strategy, which seeks to provide retirement income and advice solutions for all Americans.
Nichols joined the company in 2013 with 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the company, Nichols served as senior managing director, head of Advice & Planning for TIAA-CREF where he led a team responsible for designing, building and implementing the advice platform for the firm. In addition to TIAA-CREF, Nichols held leadership roles at Accenture, as part of the Capital Markets practice, where he worked for a variety of financial service firms worldwide and led the Global Wealth Management product strategy.
Nichols received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Duke University and holds FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses.
