ING U.S. Employees Give More Than $2 Million to Favorite Charities Across Nation
ING U.S. Employee Giving Campaign Helps Improve Communities
ING U.S. employees demonstrated their generosity during this year’s company-wide Employee Giving Campaign, contributing more than $2 million dollars in September to their favorite charities across the nation. With the ING Foundation match, employees and ING U.S. are infusing approximately $3.6 million dollars to help improve communities.
“Our employees live our corporate values each day, and their generosity during our Employee Giving Campaign is a testament to their belief in one of our corporate values: We care,” said Rhonda Mims, president of the ING Foundation and head of the ING U.S. Office of Corporate Responsibility. “Collectively, we are making a positive impact in communities and helping nonprofits further their missions to increase awareness, educate and provide services and programs to support people in need.”
Donations from employees in offices nationwide in cities from Jacksonville to New York to Des Moines and in between are helping to stock food banks, expand children’s mentoring programs, provide quality after-school care, speed disaster relief and protect the environment.
ING U.S. also encourages employees to donate their time and talents in the community. The company provides employees with 40 hours of paid time off a year to volunteer. In 2011, employees volunteered more than 50,000 hours with nonprofit organizations, and they are expected to exceed that amount in 2012.
