The Vera Institute of Justice is holding its seventh annual benefit the evening of September 24, 2012, at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The event will honor Rodney O. Martin, Jr., chief executive officer of ING U.S., and Richard G. Dudley, Jr., MD, a psychiatrist and Vera trustee.

John F. Savarese, chairman of Vera’s Board of Trustees, said, “We are honored that Rodney Martin, one of the leaders of the insurance and financial services industry and a great proponent of corporate philanthropy, is associated with Vera and will be our corporate honoree this year. The work and commitment of the ING Foundation, especially to education and children in under-served neighborhoods, resonate strongly with Vera’s mission and efforts.”

Michael Jacobson, Vera’s president and director, stated, “Vera is very pleased also to be honoring Rick Dudley, our long-time trustee, and one of the most accomplished forensic psychiatrists in the United States. For decades, Rick has made enormous contributions to the integration of mental health considerations into the criminal justice system, especially as it affects young offenders.”

Previous honorees include Michael S. Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Inc.; Jeffrey B. Kindler, then-CEO of Pfizer Inc.; Robert E. Rubin, former Secretary of the Treasury; James Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan Chase & Co.; Roger C. Altman, chairman of Evercore Partners; Raymond Kelly, New York Police Department commissioner; and Luis A. Ubiñas, president of the Ford Foundation.

The event will take place in the Allen Room of Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, located in the Time Warner Center, Broadway and 60th Street, New York City.
